DENVER –
The
Association for Senior Citizens recently was named Energy Champion
through the Nonprofit Energy Efficiency Program (NEEP) managed by Energy
Outreach Colorado.
The
Association for Senior Citizens was recognized for its dedication to
saving energy and incorporating conservation practices into its daily
operations. Its Denver facility received free energy upgrades through
NEEP in 2009, resulting in a projected annual savings of 6869 kilowatt
hours, 1,011 natural gas therms, 23,433 pounds of carbon monoxide and
nearly $2,000 in energy costs.
The
Nonprofit Energy Efficiency Program, which is funded by the Denver
Office of Strategic Partnerships and Xcel Energy, provides free energy
audits and cost-effective energy efficiency upgrades to qualifying
nonprofit facilities in Colorado. Its mission is to lower energy usage
and costs and ensure that vital community services continue.
Since
2007, NEEP has provided 65 facilities with free energy audits and
efficiency upgrades ranging from lighting and insulation to replacement
windows and boilers.
